Sunday Forum: The History of Slavery in Our Parish
March 8, 2020 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Bishop Andrew Dietsche has called the Diocese of New York to an examination of its history with slavery. In accordance with this mandate, our Sunday Forums in Lent will take a deep dive into the history of slavery in the church, American culture, the Diocese of New York, and St. Michael’s in particular. The content of these forums will lay the groundwork for our parish to engage in a longer process of coming to terms with our history and discerning how the Spirit calls us to respond. Please plan to join us for these important forums:
March 1 – the history of slavery in New York
March 8 – the history of slavery at St. Michael’s
March 15 – American slavery in art and literature
March 22 – American slavery in song and music
March 29 – the church’s justification of slavery
