HERE we go! Renovations at St. Michael’s have begun. We’re so excited to enter this phase of a project years in the making. Here’s what’s been happening in this first week of work:
The very first step was to install a new gate on the west edge of the 99th St. garden, which will be a temporary entrance for La Escuelita, the Spanish-language preschool located on the lower level of the Parish House. This frees up the area around La Escuelita’s normal entrance, allowing work to begin on the elevator shaft.
Work is also taking place on the first and second floors of the Parish House, where protective walls are being built to close off the construction area.
You’ll see signs of this work the next time you’re in the Church or the Parish House. Please bear with the changes, follow new signs to get where you need to go, and share in our excitement—these disruptions to our routine will enable us to enter our third century as a more welcoming and accessible church.
