To witness—through worship, ministries and community activities—to the spirit, teachings and love of Christ; to offer strength and love to each other; and to reach out and draw others into our diverse parish family.
Lent at
St. Michael’s
Lent is an invitation to observe a holy season by self-examination and repentance;
by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God’s holy Word.
We encourage you to make time for worship with a community of faith,
for the support of others and of the great traditions of faith in our shared work of renewal.

Sunday Forums on Prayer Practices – 11:45 am
March 8 @ 11:45 am – Who Do You Say That I Am?
Jesus asked his disciples this question, and we continue to have to answer it for ourselves. Long-time parishioner Rick Hamlin talks about his journey to answer it. His latest book is Everlasting Jesus: 40 Days of Timeless Wisdom for Modern Living. Come join the discussion in today’s forum follow Sunday’s 10 a.m. service.
March 15 @ 11:45 am – Anglican Prayer Beads (registration required)
Developed during a revival of contemplative practices in the 80s, Anglican prayer beads draw on ancient and international traditions of using beads as a tactile aid to focus prayer. (They are also referred to as the Anglican rosary.) In this adult forum, we will discuss their history and use, as well as offering participants the opportunity to construct a set to aid them in their Lenten journey.
While there is no fee for this forum, you are welcome to offer a donation to help defray the cost of materials. Use the button below to donate online (indicate Prayer Beads when donating).
March 22 – Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina, which means “divine reading,” is an ancient Christian practice of prayerfully reading Scripture. It began in the early monastic tradition, especially within Benedictine communities, as a way of encountering God personally through the biblical text. Unlike academic study that focuses mainly on historical context or interpretation, Lectio Divina invites us to slow down and listen with the heart. The purpose is not simply to gain information, but to be transformed.
Where Do We Go From Here? A Reparations Retreat
Fri, March 6 & Sat, March 7
Five years ago, Fr. Masud ibn Syedullah led St. Michael’s through an intensive discernment process regarding reparations. This “road to repair” identified several priorities – finance, education, and cemetery interment – that have guided our reparations efforts thus far. Now, he will guide us toward the next step down this road. How can we deepen our commitment to repair the harms done in St. Michael’s past? How does our faith weave this spirit into our lives?
