The Word
Made Young is our worship service designed for young children, offered
at 10:00 am in the Pre-K/K classroom on the second floor of the Parish
House. Children from age 3-2nd grade come together for
worship, then rejoin their parents at the Peace for Holy Communion.

The driving force behind “The
Word Made Young” is a simple statement: children belong in church.
Sometimes children can worship in a large service with lots of people;
sometimes they need a service of their own. And so St. Michael’s is
happy to offer two options for worship during the 10:00 am service.
Parents are always welcome to
keep their children with them in the sanctuary for worship. But “The
Word Made Young” is an opportunity for young children to worship
together in ways geared toward them. Our primary goal is worshipping
God, but along with that we will be teaching the children the basic
structure of the Liturgy of the Word, from the opening acclamation
(“Blessed be God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit”) to the Peace. The
gospel lesson will be told as a story rather than read, and the sermon
will be replaced with an opportunity to explore the meaning of the
gospel. There will be lots of singing, and children are invited to bring
their parents.
If you would like your children
to participate in this service, please join us at 10:00 in the PreK/K
room on the second floor of the Parish House, which you can get to via
the gallery stairs straight from the church. Ask a greeter or
clergyperson if you are unsure how to get there. You are welcome to stay
with your child there or to leave them; we will all be joining the
larger congregation and families at the Peace.
