Music has always played an important role in the worship life of
St. Michael's Church. Junior and senior choirs provide a rich variety
of music from the Anglican tradition during both the 9 am and 11:30
am services on Sundays.
The church houses two fine tracker-action pipe organs built in 1967 by the
Rudolph von Beckerath Organ Company (Hamburg, Germany) and these, together
with the fine acoustics of the church building, feature prominently in choral
and organ concerts throughout the season.
St. Michael’s has two adult choirs and three children choirs:
- The Angel Choir. For children ages 5-6. Rehearses
at 5:15 pm every Wednesday and sings once a month at the 9 am service.
- St. Cecilia Choristers. When members of the Angel Choir
reach the age of 7 years, they are eligible to join The St. Cecilia
Choristers, who rehearse at 3:45 pm on Wednesdays and sing once
a month at both 9 am and 11:30 am services.
- High School Choir. For young adults in high school, St.
Michael’s offers a choir geared toward helped each experienced
singer strengthen and grow their voice.
The children's choirs are directed by Rosalyn Peachey-Robinson. While
carefully rehearsing the music, she teaches the choristers basic
musicianship skills and sight-reading.
The adult choirs of St. Michael’s combine forces for several
major festivals during the church year, as well as some concert programs.
